Links we Like- Snow Day Edition

Being from Michigan, we expect the occasional snow day every year.  Last week, the midwest, and especially our friends in Chicago, got hit with SNOWMAGEDDON ’11.  Snowmageddon provided 15″ of beautiful white for our kids to play in, and gave the corps a couple of well-deserved days off.  Unfortunately, it also caused the delay of the greatly anticipated CSX Good Behavior Day Assembly at Vetal Elementary, which was the planned post for this week.

SOOOO, here’s our backup plan.  Steal from National.

City Year Resources for Media and Blogging

City Year’s Social Media team has put together a great set of resources for us nascent bloggers.  I’ve found great material on the City Year Flickr page, include the photo below, of our Program Manager Phil Black, unloading school supplies donated by CSX at Vetal (Way to Go Phil!).  The stream contains photos from City Year sites around the country.  I’m hoping to find some from London and South Africa, too!  Additionally, City Year has its own station on You Tube, where I’ve watched videos of corps members, historical figures and current leaders share inspiring thoughts on service and the work we do.  Both make for great snow day time passers!

Reads for the Greater GOOD

I love Good magazine, and I never would have been exposed to it without City Year.  Good Magazine has a City Year section, which we all should read and shout the praises of!

How Can I Be Part of City Year?

Finally, and something we can’t ignore here in Detroit- Jobs.  Our corps member are beginning to look at their LACY (Life After City Year), and while I hate the idea of sending bright, high achieving people away from Detroit, I wanted to post an updated Jobs with City Year.
